So…..Protect-A-Bed has asked a very important question recently. “How would a scholarship help me go to Blogher?” Let me tell you, times are tough everywhere for everyone so any help would be greatly appreciated! Being a Military Family we teach the kids the value of a dollar, hard work, and adapting and overcoming challenges laid out before us.

Last year (mid December) I stumbled onto a blog with a contest listed on it about a computer giveaway from HP. I was all like WOW; I never knew this type of thing went on with blogs. You see I had a blog, actually I was unfocused and had several going on and off at the same time. I posted when I felt like it, I ignored them quite often. Then I saw THAT blog, with THAT contest, and I was HOOKED. I started blogging more and more, I joined this thing called “Twitter”, and the rest is internet history really.

Fast forward to January now, I leave behind my safe and familiar blogger blog, and dive head first into a hosted blog with Wordpress. Best thing I could have ever done really. I am doing my thing, finding my grove, and then that “Cute can’t live without it Url” isn’t so great. It is long, not easy to remember, and so I change it. I then launch my second blog in as little as 2 weeks from the first hosted blog. Now I am on a roll and never looking back. Blog4Mom.com was born, and even with all of the headaches when working on it, I wouldn’t change a thing.

Then I learn about these conferences, and the fun, and the fact that others who go “GET IT” and want to share and learn together. OOOHHH I want to go too, who, what, when, where? Wow, they are costly. Ok, so I will pick 1 to attend this year (2009) and grow from there. After all everyone has to START somewhere, right? I so select Blogher, not knowing it is like wow big. To me it was a logical choice; far enough off for me to scrap and save to go. Far enough off to make arrangements with the family, after all there are kids involved and an active duty husband too.

I have my ticket! Ok now what? I need air fare, hotel stay (WOW those are costly) food and misc travel expenses. Maybe a new outfit or two if I can swing it?  This is going to be an adventure for sure. Ok, how do I lessen the impact? SPONSORS! Wow who would have thought to get sponsors for such a thing? Ok, I now have a mission for Blog4Mom.com. I want to grow it as quickly as possible, offer great content, exciting reviews and giveaways of products I really do use and like, oh and attend Blogher ’09 too. This is doable right? Seriously, I just launched in February, and have some hefty goals, but I can do it.

So I have poured my heart into my blog, met some fabulous people, and review some very unique items. I share my favorite recipes, and even helped figure out a couple for people on Twitter. However, I STILL need to pay for Blogher. I need to book my flight, and SOON. It is now May, and the prices will go up for sure as summer rapidly approaches. Now to bite the bullet and buy my airline ticket.

So have you figured out I am willing to work hard, promote the heck out of others and myself yet? Well I am! I could really use the extra cash scholarship too, to lessen the impact on the family budget. With one graduating High School, one about to hit middle school and a 2 year who believes he rules the universe every little bit would help. After all, I am a Military Wife, I know how to stretch a dollar and get the most out of it.
