So as you are more than likely very well aware by now, there are some great room make overs that have gone on all over the country thanks to the great people at Wal-Mart and the Your Zone line of bedding, Accessories, and Furniture. I have to say that looking online, truly does not do this line justice. You need to visit your local Wal-Mart and see it for yourself, and be sure to touch the rugs and bedding. I am guessing you will be pleasantly surprised at the quality.

We first learned of this great chance being given to our son just around the same time as Blogher ‘09, then I had a trip to Detroit to meet with General Motors at the Product and Technology event. I came home, recovered from the traveling, soccer was in full swing, we were planning for hubby to deploy. Yep to say the least we were B-U-S-Y.

After much looking online, and selecting many different looks, finally my son came to me one day and said “I know what I want my room to look like”. I did what any good mom does, I took notes and RAN to the Super Center to begin picking up the needed/wanted items.

There were curtains and curtain rods, rugs for the floor, new sheets, new comforter, side tables galore. I was determined to lock in this choice before he had a chance to change his mind. So we went shopping, and found the comforter first, and I was so surprised but it was on sale, so we snatched it up and looked for things to with it. This was after soccer one evening and we were on a time line due to a tournament that weekend. So we took the first item home and spent the day time hours that weekend at the tournament and the evenings re-doing the room.

Not only did my son get everything he wants, he picked out items that will last him and grow with him. He selected fun items like a BLUE Lava lamp. Also sensible items like a new alarm clock and a touch lamp to place on his side table. Curtains to match the stripes of the comforter, rugs for the floor of his room as well as extras for the bathroom floor too. Multiple sets of sheets to match the bed. All in a lovely shade of tan too. Navy and tan paint on the walls, lots of cleaning and sorting and purging of clothes that no longer fit. We had a winning room and a happy boy.

This couldn’t have been finished soon enough though, as he has since become sick (after the tournament) and has spent almost an entire week in bed with all of his new things. So nice to have all of these new things to help keep him warm, and give him something totally him to look at while stuck in his room.
